ROMANS 8:23-25:

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Context of Romans  8:23-25:

Verse (22) means everything has been affected by Satan’s rebellion and Adam’s fall. The groan refers to the longing for creation to be brought back to its original perfection. Verse (23) refers to creation and all it entails and when it says “but ourselves also” it is referring to believers.  The first fruits of the spirit in this verse means even though Jesus addressed every single thing lost in the fall at the Cross, we only have a part of that possession now with the balance coming at the Resurrection. When it says here in our text “even we ourselves groan within ourselves” refers to all that Jesus paid for in the Atonement has not yet been fully realized.

Then when it says “waiting for the adoption” it should be translated waiting for the fulfillment of the process, which adoption into the Family of God guarantees.  Then finally for this verse when it says “to wit, The Redemption of our body” refers to the glorifying of our physical body that will take place at the Resurrection.  Now here is where we get into the focus for this teaching.  Verse (24) says “we are save by hope” which means that the greater part of our salvation is yet future.  Then it says “but hope that is seen is not hope” which proclaims in another way the great truth that all salvation afford is not yet given unto the Believer.  Then it says “for what a man sees, why does he yet hope for?”  This bluntly tells us that what is coming is so far beyond that which is here.at the present, as to be no comparison.  Then our last verse, Verse (25) says “But if we hope for that we see not” which again tells us that much more is coming.  Then the final statement is “then do we with patience wait for it.”  Which proclaims the certitude of its coming, because the Holy Spirit has promised it would.

Our Hope Is In God:

In Psalm 43:5 it saysWhy art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”  David in many of his trials and circumstances had to remind himself that his hope was in God. He had to speak to his own soul when it would be full of anxiety and distress and tell his own soul to be quiet, he told his soul to settle yourself; hope in God.  He said, I will yet praise Him who is the health of my countenance and my God.  Just like David during this time of COVID -19 many became distressed, many became full of anxiety but tell your soul to be quiet, settle yourself for your Hope is in God.  We do not have to fear or worry for our hope is in God.  God is our help and our hope. Amen.

Jesus, The God of Hope:

In Romans 15:13 it says13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”  We must always know and understand the Jesus is the God of Hope. That Jesus is and always will be our source.  That which the Lord has imparted to all believers rests on our Faith.  It is the Holy Spirit that will help us to have all these things if we place our faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross.  So remember when you find yourself losing your peace and losing your joy, know that Jesus is the God of Hope.  Remember that Jesus is our source and our faith rests on Him and His word. Amen!

Defending The Hope Within Us:

In 1 Peter 3:15 it says 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” Many times when there is chaos in the world many Christians are calm when unbelievers are reacting to the same situation in chaos. This is because we Christians have the Lord God sanctified in our hearts and we are ready to give anyone the reason for our hope in God.  We are ready to tell the unbeliever that God says in his word in 1 Corinthians 15:9 “19  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” which means if your hope is tied to everything that exists in this life then you are most miserable. Life is bleak without hope.  Life is a vapor and if your hope is in this world then there is no hope.  But our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ and his promises through the gospel for in Proverbs 10:28 it says “28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.”  You see, that’s our hope, the hope of the righteous and this is how we defend the hope that is within us. The hope of the righteous is full of gladness but the expectation of the wicked shall parish.  Amen!

We Have A Blessed Hope:

The bible says in Titus 2:13 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;”  Now we know that our blessed hope is when Jesus comes back for us in the rapture which is what the scripture is speaking of in  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18  for it says 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” This is our blessed hope which is the very foundation of Christianity which is the death and resurrection of Christ.  It is the promise from God that he will meet us in the air and our physical body will be replaced with our glorified bodies.  However, the dead in Christ will rise first at his appearing and then those of us who remain will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.  This is how we have a blessed hope.  Amen.

The  Endurance in Our Hope:

The bible say in 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 “We always thank God for all of you, making mention of you constantly in our prayers. We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work produced by faith, your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Christian Standard Bible (CSB)   When we first receive the Lord Jesus Christ, faith, hope and love would radiate from us.  But in order to maintain that radiation we then have to have a working faith, laboring love, and an enduring hope.  This is what will distinguish true Christians in a cold indifferent world.  It’s not going to be how many scriptures you can quote or how long you been in the church but rather how you serve others.  We are saved to serve others and this teaches us endurance in our hope.  We endure because of the hope we have in the Lord Jesus Christ and while we hope we serve others.  Amen.

We Have A Living Hope:

The scripture tells us in 1 Peter 1:33 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” Our salvation is like a new birth into a living hope, which is a positive expectation about the future.  Before salvation we were born into a dead hope, we were born to die.  But through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ there is a better future of life after death.  This is our lively hope, and that is though we die, we yet live.  Amen.  We have life in the Lord Jesus Christ because of what He has done at the Cross.  We have a living hope, hallelujah!  The scripture further tells us in John 10:10 “10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” So Jesus comes to bring life and not only life but life more abundantly.  Jesus is our living hope and if you are saved today and know him as your personal savior, reach out and tell somebody that you have life and that life is in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Tell somebody you have a living hope.  Amen.

We Have A Helmet Of Hope:

In 1 Thessalonians 5:8 it says But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”   The helmet of our hope is the hope of salvation and we are to wear it like a helmet to protect our thoughts. We have to wear the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet of hope at all times for without these we have no protection in this world.  But with them, the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet of hope of our salvation we can be confident in our deliverance since God has destined this world to wrath.  We must protect our hope of salvation with the helmet of hope. Protect our thoughts to ward out doubt and fear and panic in a world of COVID-19 in a world of Corona Virus we wear a helmet of hope that protects our thoughts against the evil one. Amen.

Know God, Know Hop Or No God, No Hope:

In Proverbs 13:12 it says 12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”  This means that all hope outside of Christ is never realized but all hope in Christ is ever realized. The bible says in Job 8:13 13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:”  Then in Job 27:8 it says For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? “This is why I chose to end this Bible teaching with the heading Know God, Know Hope or No God, No Hope. This means if you do not have God then you have no hope.  The unbeliever, the hypocrite has no hope without God.  The word of God is the only answer for what ills man or mankind.  Likewise one can only know the word by knowing its Author the Lord Jesus Christ. So if you are a born again believer then you know God and you know hope.  However, if you are not born again then that means you have no God which means you have no hope.  I implore you to get to know him today by making Him Lord over your life. Give your life to Christ today.

The Prayer Of Salvation:

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I am a sinner, I repent to your Lord of all my sins and I ask that you come into my heart and be Lord over my life.  I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day.  From this day forward I believe that I am saved and set free and I commit my life, my soul and my salvation unto you and your kingdom work.  I thank you Lord Jesus for my life and my salvation.  In Jesus Name!  Amen.
